The start of "Letting It Out"

Updated: May 26, 2021

These past 5 weeks, I have been working on my E.P called 'Letting it Out'. The way I came across this idea was because I started to listen to different styles of rappers: SuperDuperKyle, Eminem, Tupac Shakur and Trippe Redd. Each of these rappers have a different style. Kyle is more of the laidback, relaxed but is also going through tough times which is shown by his album: Little light of mine Youtube.com. (2021). [online] Available at: https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLngZraXIAMxfP7BYQXawMPBxDsm3CSVG5) [Accessed 26 May 2021]. (https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLngZraXIAMxfP7BYQXawMPBxDsm3CSVG5). This album consists of 21 videos. Kyle brought in another rapper called "Lil Yachty" www.youtube.com. (n.d.). lil boat - YouTube. [online] Available at: https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCNTu7P3IyRRKJtibrrXG0Yg [Accessed 26 May 2021].(https://m.youtube.com/channel/UCNTu7P3IyRRKJtibrrXG0Yg) to record an audio peice where Yaghty is Kyle's conscience and they have a conversation between them selves. This audio was put on the start of one of the songs. In my opinion, it worked really well because the two musicians talked about having girl problems and how fed up of girls Kyle is; the song Is about being open to a girl and giving them all of the attention.

Listening to Eminems album "Relapse"www.youtube.com. (n.d.). Relapse - YouTube. [online] Available at: https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_ltQp3k4tTYR_YVKJh_NtnubW3ttr6-MN4. (https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_ltQp3k4tTYR_YVKJh_NtnubW3ttr6-MN4), it made me think about how you can really express anger. Listening to the song "3 a.m." made me understand how you can let out something so aggressive without actually being angry. Instead of being really angry he seemed more "insane". This made me feel like just letting it all out.

When I started listening to Tupac more, I realized that his songs are more about his lyrics and delivering a message across due to them.www.youtube.com. (n.d.). 2Pac - Changes (Official Music Video) ft. Talent. [online] Available at: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eXvBjCO19QY. [Accessed 26 May 2021]. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eXvBjCO19QY. This is a song called "Changes". Changes is one of Tupac's political messages which explains about his views on what them present days were like. The song was released in 1998 and research has told me that he had passed away In 1996 (https://www.biography.com/.amp/news/tupac-shakur-birthday-facts).

This means the lyrics are about before 1996 which was a time when racism controlled man kind.

"I see no changes, wake up in the morning, and I ask myself is life worth living, should I blast myself? I'm tired of bein' poor, and even worse I'm black my stomach hurts, so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch". These lyrics of the first verse shows us clearly that the message he was trying to deliver was about racism. He says he is sick of being poor but what's worse than that is the fact that he is of a different colour race so because of racism, he couldn't get a job so he had no money to eat so he had to steal just for survival. I feel like listening to Tupac and his song Changes, has really helped me out with with my project and future goals by giving me an understanding on how to express emotion within a message.

As I Listen to Trippie Redd's music, I can feel all of the emotion through just the tone of his voice, then his lyrics adds to that emotion.www.youtube.com. (n.d.). Trippie Redd - Who Needs Love. [online] Available at: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WuSMyJZs7qk [Accessed 26 May 2021]. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WuSMyJZs7qk. This is a link to a song by Trippe Redd called "Who needs love". In this song, Trippie is conveying his doubts about love and the whole concept of it. It is said that this song is inspired by the rappers past relationship between another rapper "Coi Leray". Trippe Redd and Coi Leray were in a relationship for a short while, they even made songs together but shortly after broke up. This had an impact on the Male rapper, Inspiring him to create lyrics.

This research helped me with my ep because it made me think more about how I could use any of my background stories and turn it into a song.

Listening to each of these stated lyricist, inspired me to come up with the idea of making this specific ep, because they each have their own ways of perusing their emotions across via music. I shall utilize this within my own lyrics by thinking about: the exact topic that I would like to rap about, the exact emotion I would like to convey to the audience and the exact kind of tone I would like to express.

What I mean by that is: if I have a track that's calm and soothing then I would use more of an relaxed tone, if the track was more aggressive then I would use more of an aggressive tone. I would do this in order to give my music more character which will keep the listeners wanting more.
